Number 30 - Museu do Amanhã

What could be more fitting than celebrating fifty at Museu do Amanhã - The Museum of Tomorrow?!
With visitors in town I finally got a chance to visit the museum on the inside. I had already been to Praça Mauá to see the fabulous structure, but I did not have the courage to face the long line. The museum has been a huge success, with one million visitors during the 8 months it has been open. Luckily on the day we went there was no line at all!

I know I have posted pictures of the museum before, but it is just such an awesome building!

My brother found his favorite letter, outside.

My father found an exhibition that must have been made for him, just inside!

And I started walking inside the structure, where one of the first things you see is a model of planet Earth spinning slowly, showing messages and the continents.

The exhibition we saw was full of references to modern technologies, with thousands of pictures, sounds, buttons to push, videos to watch...

But it also tried to call our attention to the wonders of our planet, the biodiversity, the importance of the eco-systems, the sky above us...and to the fact that if we do not take care there might one day not be a tomorrow...

In between the exhibits there were artistic installations, beautiful, intriguing, made for visitors to walk in, to admire, to wonder...

The museum itself doubles as an artistic installation, with the views from the inside just as incredible as the ones from the outside.

Before we headed home, we sat down to have a cold drink at one of the food trucks aoutside, and The Parents posed for the new must-have postcard shot of Rio de Janeiro.
